International Institute for ICTs Journalism (PenPlusBytes) was founded in 2001 in Ghana. PenPlusBytes seeks to empower the media through the use of ICTs to advance the work of journalism. It consists of a network of media organizations and journalists interested in using ICTs effectively to advance the course of journalism.

Project Information: The ‘Enabling Governance and Economic Transparency in West Africa using New Media‘ project aims to use web enabled tools and SMS (AEP Platform) to drive greater governance and economic transparency at the community level within the framework of accountability in public spending. The project also serves to act as a public oversight system, set up to combine SMS, emails, website and leveraging community radio to register, publicize and track public expenditure in the area of health and education at the community level.
